November 9, 2008 – What an analytical research project is!

I’m not much for blogging because of some previous bad encounters with personal webpage deals, but I guess I’ll give it another go. As an assignment I was told to describe an analytical research project to the reader. To me an analytical research project is a paper that informs readers of information, but also shows that there is some contradiction to the particular subject. For instance, my paper is on Johne’s disease in cattle (pronounced Yo-Knees) and Crohn’s disease in humans and whether or not their is a link between the two diseases. There have been studies done to try and prove that milk from a Johne’s infected cow, drank by a human can cause Crohn’s disease from the pathogen M. paratuberculosis found in Johne’s. This is a contradicting piece of evidence, because many people believe that this isn’t true and or possible. Now back to the definition of anayltical research. This type of paper generally requires research to be done, and then needs some contradicting evidence to back it up, like the example I shared.

I wonder if a cow can get the disease from a human. If a human was infected with Crohn’s disease would it transfer to Johne’s disease in a cow. Maybe you have already reseached that aspect already. I guess i was just curious.

It’s scary to think that something we depend on and consume everyday could be potentially harmful. I really hope that humans can’t recieve this disease from cows, but i’m looking forward to learning more from your paper. :)
